SAN DIEGO – San Diego State swimming and diving team members senior Morganne McKennan and sophomore Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez were named Mountain West Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.

Senior Morganne McKennan made a splash in the pool this week, not only qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Trials with a school-record 100 breast long course swim of 1:09.80 but also took home first place in the 100 breast at the Mizzou Invite with a conference-best time of 59.83. McKennan brought home gold with the nation's 14th-best time this season while recording a "B" qualifying time for the 2020 NCAA Championships. The senior also earned an eighth-place finish in the 200 breast finals in Missouri, swimming the sixth-fastest time by a MW swimmer during the 2019-2020 campaign.

Lechuga Gonzalez registered her second MW weekly honor this season with three top-three finishes at the NAU Diving Invitational Friday and Saturday. Her efforts were highlighted by her first-place finish on the platform dive, collecting a score of 253.90 which registered as the third-best dive seen in the conference this season. The sophomore also finished second in both the 1 and 3-meter diving competitions, breaking the 300-point barrier in both 1-meter dive rounds. Her 1-meter finals score of 306.90 was the best score seen in the conference in the past week and the sixth-best all season, while her preliminary round 3-meter point total of 306.65 was the second-highest total in the MW over the past seven days.

The Aztecs next hit the water Dec. 20 when they host Vanderbilt and Seattle at the Aztec Aquaplex. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
