DOHA, QATAR – Former Aztec Shanieka Ricketts (Thomas) won the silver medal in the triple jump at the 2019 Track and Field World Championships in Doha, Qatar Saturday evening.
Representing Jamaica, Ricketts cleared 14.92 meters on her third jump, just 0.01 meters off her previous career best, which she set in Zurich, Switzerland when she won the Diamond League Championship just over a month ago.
Venezuela's Yulimar Rojas won the gold with a mark of 15.37 meters.
Ricketts finished in 11th in the triple jump at the 2015 World Championships, 14th at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 8th at the 2017 World Championships.
Ricketts, who competed for the Aztecs from 2011-14, will be inducted into the Aztec Hall of Fame on Friday.
