SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's tennis team will put the finishing touches on its fall tournament schedule this weekend when it travels to the Silver State for the Larry Easley Memorial Classic, Nov. 1-3, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Four Aztecs will compete on the courts of the Fertita Tennis Complex, including senior Fabian Roensdorf (Dortmund, Germany), junior Ignacio Martinez (Weston, Fla.), sophomore Alex Scemanenco (San Diego, Calif.) and freshman Daniel Traxler (Dallas, Texas).

In addition to host UNLV and SDSU, the three-day tournament will feature players from Cal Poly, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, SMU and UCLA.

The action gets underway on Friday at 9 a.m. PT and will consist of three singles flights and one doubles flight, along with consolation rounds in both.

Martinez and Traxler will join forces in doubles for the weekend, while Roensdorf and Scemanenco will comprise the Aztecs' other tandem.

UNLV's annual home event was renamed in 2010 to honor the late Dr. Larry Easley, who passed away in 2005 due to illness after serving as the head coach of the Rebel men's program from 1992-2003.

UNLV's Olle Thesrup defeated Connor Rapp of UCLA in three sets to capture the Flight One singles championship last year, while the Bruin combo of Bryce Pereira and Max Wild edged teammates Rapp and Lucas Bellamy to claim the doubles title.

Martinez is the lone returner from SDSU's last appearance in the Easley Memorial Classic in 2017, when he advanced to the singles quarterfinals after posting a pair of wins in the previous rounds.

Meanwhile, Scemanenco and Traxler lead this weekend's Aztec contingent with five singles victories apiece thus far. In early October, Scemanenco took third place in his flight at the Aztec Fall Invitational, while Traxler emerged with a consolation title in his bracket. Both players also participated in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, along with Martinez and Roensdorf.

Following the Easley Memorial Classic, San Diego State will have over two months off from competition before opening its dual-match schedule at UCLA on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, as part of the ITA Kick Off Weekend.
