SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's tennis team continues its fall slate this weekend when four players participate in the Wildcat Invitational, Sept. 20-22, at Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club in Tucson, Arizona.

Sophomore transfer Alex Scemanenco is one of three Aztecs scheduled to debut in a Scarlet and Black uniform, joining freshmen Daniel Traxler and Jules Auffray, while senior Fabian Roensdorf is primed for his first tournament action of the season.

A local product who prepped at Torrey Pines High School, Scemanenco posted an 11-13 singles record in his lone season at UC Davis in 2018-19, including an 8-5 mark in fall tournament play.  He also compiled an 18-13 overall ledger as a member of four different doubles pairings.

While at Torrey Pines High, Scemanenco was part of a Falcon squad that captured CIF Southern California team titles during his freshman and junior seasons.

In addition, Auffray joins the Aztecs after graduating from the famed Mouratoglu Tennis Academy in Biot, France, while Traxler is a native Texan who briefly attended El Camino High School in Oceanside, California, for one year and was rated a four-star prospect by TennisRecruiting.net.

Roensdorf, meanwhile, enters his second year at SDSU after arriving on The Mesa in mid-January in time for last season's dual-match schedule, amassing an 8-8 record in four different doubles tandems while collecting five wins in the top three spots on the Aztecs' singles ladder.

Friday's schedule for SDSU begins at 8 a.m. MST/PDT, with Roensdorf and Scemanenco joining forces to battle Northern Arizona's Eben Straker-Meads and Facundo Tumosa in the Wilber Wildcat doubles bracket, while Auffray and Traxler are slated to face New Mexico State's Sebastian Herrera and Lucas Landaluce in the Wilma Wildcat flight at 8:30 a.m.

The singles brackets at the Wildcat Invitational are named for Grand Slam events, with Friday's Australian Open draw pitting Roensdorf against Grand Canyon's Freddie Grant, as well as Traxler vs. Arizona's Carlos Hassey no earlier than 9 a.m. In addition, the French Open bracket features Scemanenco against Northern Colorado's Thomas Pudney no earlier than 10:30 a.m., while Auffray received a bye in the Wimbeldon flight and will face the winner of Arizona's Conner Olsen and Northern Colorado's Nick Wade at 4 :30 p.m.

In addition to the aforementioned squads, the two other schools represented at the tournament are Brigham Young and New Mexico.

Following this weekend's event, San Diego State will play host to the Aztec Fall Invitational, Oct. 4-6, while select players are scheduled to compete in the ITA All-American Championships, Oct. 5-13, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
