Last Time Out
The Aztecs played Santa Clara to a 1-1 draw on the road last Saturday evening. Santa Clara scored in the 40th minute but then saw their goalkeeper be issued a red card in the 64th minute. The Aztecs tied the match up in the 76th minute on a Keegan Kelly header and had a flurry of opportunities in the final minutes of regulation and extra time but couldn't find the back of the net. SDSU finished with 26 shots to Santa Clara's 12 and the Aztecs had 10 shots on goal after the Broncos went down to 10 men.

Aztec Storylines
•    The Aztecs kick off Pac-12 play this week with games at No. 12 Washington Thursday and at Oregon State Sunday afternoon. Both games will be shown on Pac-12 Networks and streamed on the Pac-12 Now app (subscription required).
•    Pelaez had a career-high 11 shots at Santa Clara last Saturday. He is second in the nation with 5.40 shots per game and fourth with 2.40 shots on goal per game.
•    The Aztecs are second in the Pac-12 and 30th in the nation with 2.0 goals per game.
•    SDSU is one of two Pac-12 teams with two goals from three different players (Pablo Pelaez, Tevenn Roux and Hunter George).
•    Pablo Pelaez is third in the Pac-12 with eight points and Tevenn Roux is tied for fourth with seven.  
•    SDSU is averaging 2.0 assists per game, the 20th best mark in the nation.
•    The Aztecs are in the midst of five consecutive road matches. After playing at Santa Clara last weekend, SDSU will begin Pac-12 play this week in the Pacific Northwest with matches at No. 12 Washington (Sept. 19) and Oregon State (Sept. 22). SDSU will then head across the country to play Brown Sept. 22 before returning to Southern California for a match at UCLA Oct. 6. SDSU then plays five consecutive home games and seven of their final nine matches on the Sports Deck.
•    Pablo Pelaez was named to the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team. The redshirt senior led the Aztecs in points (15) and goals (six) last season and tied for the team lead with three assists.
•    The Aztecs return eight starters from a season ago.
•    SDSU has 11 seniors on their roster after only having four in 2018.
•    The Aztecs have the No. 10 2019 recruiting class in the country according to Top Drawer Soccer. SDSU has nine newcomers (eight freshmen and one transfer).
•    Former Aztec goalkeeper Tally Hall (2003-06) will be inducted into the Aztec Hall of Fame in October. A two-time All-American, Hall led the nation with an 88.9 save percentage and ranked second with a 0.49 goals allowed average in 2005. He also recorded 12 shutouts that season; all are single-season school records. After SDSU, he enjoyed a 10-year professional career, including eight seasons with the Houston Dynamo of MLS and was named a 2011 MLS All-Star.

Opponent Notebook
Washington

The Huskies are 5-1-0 on the year with two wins over ranked teams (No. 18 Denver & No. 16 Michigan State)... Their lone loss came last Thursday at CSUN (1-3)... They are top ten in the nation in assists and assists per game and sixth in shot accuracy (.548)... They are averaging 2.0 goals per game, the same rate as the Aztecs... They have three players with at least six points: Dylan Teves (7), Lucas Meek (6) and Blake Bodily (6)... Goalkeeper Bryce Logan has a goals allowed average of 1.33 and 17 saves... UW is coached by Jamie Clark, who enters the game with a record of 143-58-23 in his eight plus years at UW... SDSU is 6-19-8 all-time vs UW with the Huskies winning the last four meetings.

Oregon State
The Beavers are 3-3-0 so far in 2019.. They lost both their matches last week, falling at Grand Canyon 1-0 and at home against UCSB 3-2... Their 15 assists are eighth in the nation and they lead the conference with 8.0 corner kicks per game... Adrian Crespo leads the team with nine points and five assists... Goalkeeper Adrian Fernandez has a goals allowed average of 1.60 and has 16 saves... Head Coach Terry Boss led OSU to a 11-6-3 record and qualified for the NCAA Tournament last year, his first year with the Beavers... SDSU is 11-17-3 all-time vs. OSU... They split their two meetings last year with the home team winning each time.
