SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State and California have agreed to a home-and-home series in football, starting in 2024, the two schools announced today. The Aztecs and Golden Bears will play Sept. 14, 2024 in Berkeley and Sept. 13, 2025 in San Diego.

In the last meeting between the two schools in 2016, SDSU downed Cal, 45-40, behind 281 rushing yards and three touchdowns by Donnel Pumphrey. Including the 2016 win over California, San Diego State has won four of its last five games against Pac-12 schools after sweeping Arizona State in a home-and-home series in 2017 and 2018, and splitting with Stanford over the past two years (won in 2017, lost in 2018).

Other additions to the Aztec future schedules includes a home-and-home series with Central Michigan, six more home contests and two date changes for future games. SDSU has now completed its non-conference slate through the 2024 campaign.

San Diego State begins its series with CMU in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., on Sept. 28, 2024, before returning home for the backend on Sept. 21, 2030.

The Aztecs are also scheduled to host Towson on Sept. 25, 2021, Idaho State on Sept. 10, 2022 and again on Aug. 26, 2023, Portland State on Sept. 21, 2024 and again on Sept. 5, 2026, and Stony Brook on Aug. 30, 2025.

Finally, future home games against Toledo in 2022 (now Sept. 24) and UCLA in 2023 (now Sept. 9) have been changed.

The agate below details SDSU's non-conference slate for games that have been finalized.

The Aztecs finished 2018 with a 7-6 record, including wins over No. 23/25 Arizona State and rv/No. 24 Boise State. SDSU is one of 14 teams to make a bowl game in nine consecutive seasons. San Diego State returns its leading passer (Ryan Agnew), rusher (Juwan Washington) and tackler (Kyahva Tezino) from a year ago.

SDSU's Mountain West home schedule features the two teams that finished atop the West Division standings last year (Fresno State and Nevada), and two cross-division opponents with the best league record (Utah State) and the third-best mark on the Mountain Division (Wyoming). Overall, San Diego State's four Mountain West home games come against teams that went a combined 23-9 in league competition, while its four conference road contests are against teams that went 10-22 in league play.

The Aztecs kick off their 2019 season at home on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Weber State at 6 p.m. PT, followed by the KGB SkyShow.
