SAN DIEGO – Bill Cohn resigned his position as assistant coach of the San Diego State women's water polo program.  Head Coach Carin Crawford made the announcement Wednesday morning.

"It's been an honor to serve the program at San Diego State for the past five seasons," Cohn said. "I want to thank Carin Crawford for inviting me to join the Aztec Water polo family. I'm proud of our student-athletes and their accomplishments in and out of the water and I wish them continued success in their education and post-graduate careers."

During his tenure on The Mesa, Cohn helped guide the team to three regular-season Golden Coast Conference (GCC) titles and one GCC Tournament title, which resulted in an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  In each of his first three seasons on the bench, the team finished ranked in the top-20 nationally.  He helped Caroline Israels earn GCC Player of the Year as well as All-American honors in 2015 and 2017 and this past season Emily Bennett had All-American honors bestowed upon her.

"I owe a debt of gratitude to Bill Cohn for his service to our water polo program," Crawford said.  "He has been an integral part of our program since 2015 and he has been a valuable and trusted assistant to me for five seasons. He provided great wisdom and counsel to our SDSU student-athletes and I appreciate what he was able to bring to our program."

Cohn, who joined the Aztec staff prior to the 2015 season, previously served as the voice of San Diego State water polo for 16 years.

A national search for Cohn's replacement will begin immediately.
