SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State athletic department has announced the promotional schedule for the 2019 football season, where six games will be played at SDCCU Stadium.

The Aztecs kick off their season on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. PT with the 44th annual KGB SkyShow against Weber State. The KGB SkyShow, the largest fireworks show in the area, annually attracts one of the largest crowds of the season. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a free SkyShow mousepad, while 2,000 t-shirts will be handed out to SDSU students. The opener will also feature a Welcome Week student tailgate, SDSU Faculty/Staff Day and a Kids Zone with Aladdin characters, inflatable games and carnival rides.

The next home game on Saturday, Sept. 21 with Utah State will be First Responders Appreciation Day as well as Extra Yard for Teachers and the San Diego County Teachers of the Year recognition. Additionally, 2,000 beach bags will be given out to San Diego State students, while the Kids Zone will feature a face painter, inflatable games and carnival rides. The Sept. 21 clash with the Aggies will also be High School Band Night.

The Aztec Hall of Fame class will be recognized against Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 12, which will be part of Family Weekend and
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. Also on the docket is Dance Marathon Night and Padres Night, as well as a Guard/Twirlers clinic and a Kids Zone featuring Toy Story characters, inflatable games and carnival rides. In addition, Lip Balm will be passed out to 2,000 students.

Next up is the Homecoming game on Saturday, Nov. 9 vs. Nevada, which will also be played as part of the Fleet Week Classic. Free red rally towels will be given out to the first 10,000 fans in attendance and all fans will be encouraged to wear red as part of a Redout game. There will also be a Veterans Day recognition and the Kids Zone will feature a face painter, inflatable games and carnival rides.

In its lone Friday home game of the season, San Diego State plays host to Fresno State on Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. PT. Free foam fingers will be handed out to the first 10,000 fans and a special "Freaky Friday" promotion will have $10 off select single-game tickets. Members from Heartlight will perform at halftime, and inflatable games and carnival rides will lead the Kids Zone activities.

The Aztecs end their regular season with a non-conference home game against Brigham Young on Saturday, Nov. 30, highlighted by a special pregame ceremony honoring their departing seniors. The game serves as Fan Appreciation Day and will feature a Blackout with all fans encouraged to wear black. Clear tote bags will be given out to students and the Kids Zone will have Frozen characters, inflatable games and carnival rides. A cheer/dance clinic will also take place.

Aztec Village, which opens 2 hours, 30 minutes before each home game (note that it will open three hours prior to the SkyShow game on Aug. 31), will once again be around for the 2019 season. Aztec Village is free and open to the public, and features food and beverage vendors, Aztec team appearances, a Kids Zone, photo ops and more.

The Aztecs finished 2018 with a 7-6 record, including wins over No. 23/25 Arizona State and rv/No. 24 Boise State. SDSU is one of 14 teams to make a bowl game in nine consecutive seasons. San Diego State returns its leading passer (Ryan Agnew), rusher (Juwan Washington) and tackler (Kyahva Tezino) from a year ago.

SDSU's Mountain West home schedule features the two teams that finished atop the West Division standings last year (Fresno State and Nevada), and two cross-division opponents with the best league record (Utah State) and the third-best mark on the Mountain Division (Wyoming). Overall, San Diego State's four Mountain West home games come against teams that went a combined 23-9 in league competition, while its four conference road contests are against teams that went 10-22 in league play.
