Softball Welcomes Fresno State for Senior Weekend

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State plays its final home games of the season this weekend against Fresno State at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (21-24, 8-10 MW) and Bulldogs (33-15, 11-7 MW) play at 6 p.m. PT Friday, 6 p.m. PT Saturday and noon PT Sunday.

On Saturday (May 4), there will be a special Star Wars Night for the SDSU-FS softball game and the SDSU-SJSU baseball game. There will be photo opportunities with Star Wars backdrops/characters, Star Wars mask giveaways, Star Wars music throughout the game and more Star Wars-themed activities.

Sunday (May 5) will also be the final home game for Aztec seniors Katie Byrd, Aris Metcalfe, Kayla Sok and Molly Sturdivant. There will also be a coaster giveaway (first 250 fans) and the final set of softball cards giveaway (200 cards for each player).

SDSU is coming off a series loss at No. 25 Colorado State, which featured two one-run games (a 5-4 win on Saturday and a 4-3 loss on Sunday).

Taylor Adams continues to pace the San Diego State offense, leading the team in average (.356), hits (47), home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.492). Shelby Thompson (.311, 3 HR, 18 RBI, 8 2B, 15 BB, .384 OB%), Byrd (.296, 19 R) and Kelsey Munoz (.293, 3 HR, 22 RBI, 10 2B) are also hitting over .290 for the Aztecs, while Kiera Wright (.259) leads the team in runs (26) and stolen bases (19).

Despite missing eight games before league play with an injury, Marissa Moreno leads the SDSU pitching staff in most categories, including ERA (3.41), wins (9, tied), appearances (32), complete games (6), shutouts (3), saves (3), innings pitched (127.1), strikeouts (101) and opponents' average (.240). Alicia Garcia (9-6, 4.07 ERA, 84.1 IP) and MJ James (3-7, 5.37 ERA, 90.0 IP) have also logged important innings.
