SAN DIEGO – The Aztec Club, the fundraising arm of the San Diego State athletic department, announced changes to the priority point system. The priority point system is used to equitably assign donor and season-ticket benefits like seat location, parking, postseason events as well as membership level benefits.
The changes take effect immediately and will be used to allocate seat locations in the Aztec Stadium in Mission Valley, currently scheduled to open prior to the 2022 Aztec Football season.
Unlike before, when there were separate totals for football and men's basketball, individuals will now have a single priority point total. That total will be used for all sports. In addition, members of the Aztec Club and season-ticket holders will be able to see their total points and their current ranking by logging on to their account on the new Aztec Club website sdsuaztecclub.com, which launched this morning.
"It is an incredibly exciting time in Aztec Athletics," senior associate athletic director of development Tim Rice said. "Combining the point system into one total number is a best practice that will create equity and make it easier for our supporters to see and understand their benefits. The main purpose of the Priority Point system is to recognize and reward our most loyal supporters for their current and past support.
"Please know that loyalty and consecutive years of support are a key factor. As we continue to get closer to moving into a new stadium in Mission Valley, the ability to secure tickets in prime locations will become more important than ever. Launching this now gives all San Diego State fans the opportunity to add to their point total before our team moves into the new stadium. As always, your points determine your ranking for new seat and upgrade requests."
Like before, Aztec Club members and season ticket holders can accumulate tickets through four ways of support:
- One point for every $100 donated (unrestricted) to the Aztec Club's current fiscal year campaign
- One point for every $1,000 lifetime giving to San Diego State Athletics (all areas)
- Two points for each consecutive year of season tickets (Men's Basketball and Football)
- One point for every $25,000 given to a planned gift or an endowment through the Coryell Legacy Society
In order for your account to be included in the Priority Ranking for the stadium seat selection process the account holder must be a current-fiscal year member of the Aztec Club and a football season-ticket holder for the upcoming season.
Today's announcement coincides with the launch of the Aztecs Club's new digital platform. In addition to providing donors and season-ticket holders with a real-time look at their point totals, the website reflects the organization's new motto:
INVEST. INSPIRE. BELIEVE.
"With over 5,000 passionate supporters we are fortunate to have a solid base to build upon," Rice said. "On behalf of SDSU Athletics and the Aztec Club thank you to all who have helped build this program. To those who are yet to join the movement, a membership in the Aztec Club is an investment in the educational experience of young men and women in all 19 of our Division I programs. Your investment will not only impact lives, but it will ensure the continued growth and success of SDSU Athletics."
Individuals that have questions about the new point system or wish to donate are asked to please visit sdsuaztecclub.com or call the Aztec Club at (619) 594-6444.
