COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Aztec pole vaulter Kaitlin Heri was named the Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. Heri took first place in the pole vault at BYU's Robison Invitational on Saturday after clearing 13-11.00 (4.24m).

Heri, a sophomore from Redondo Beach, Calif., beat her closest competition by eight inches and topped her previous best mark by 5.75".

Her height of 13-11.00 gives her the fifth best vault in SDSU outdoor history.

The Aztec vaulters rank No. 3 in the nation in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings with their top four vaulters averaging a season best of 13-10.25 (4.22m). Heri is the second SDSU vaulter to be named MW Field Athlete of the Week - Bonnie Draxler won the award on April 2.

The Aztecs have the upcoming weekend off and then will compete at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in Clovis, Calif. May 8-11.
