Aztec Storylines
BACK HOME: After a weather-shortened trip at Air Force, SDSU returns to Tony Gwynn Stadium for a two-game midweek series against 2018 College World Series participant and No. 14/11-ranked Texas Tech. Tuesday's game can be listened to on XTRA 1360. Wednesday's game will feature SDSU Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day and the first 250 fans in attendance will receive free SDSU sunglasses.

Please note that Wednesday's game was originally scheduled for 2:00 p.m. but will now start at 1:00 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY WITH THE RED RAIDERS: SDSU is 2-13 all-time against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have won each of the last five meetings with SDSU's last win against Texas Tech coming on March 13, 2015 when the Aztecs shutout TTU, 9-0.

In that 9-0 win, current San Diego Padres prospect Ty France went 2-for-3 with a game-high three RBIs. Current Milwaukee Brewers prospect Bubba Derby earned the win, dominating the Red Raiders over eight innings pitched with 11 strikeouts, no walks, and only three hits allowed.

SDSU is 27-69 all-time against current members of the Big 12.

REBOUNDING QUICKLY: SDSU enters its midweek series against Texas Tech with two consecutive losses, something that has rarely happened for the Aztecs over the last three seasons. SDSU has only lost back-to-back games eight times over the last three seasons and over that span, the team owns a 35-7 record in games following a loss.

SDSU has not suffered a three-game losing streak since April 29 - May 1, 2016 (three-game sweep against Nevada) -- a span of 148 games.

GOING AGAINST TEAMS ON THE BIGGEST STAGE: Since Mark Martinez took over as head coach before the 2015 season, San Diego State is 5-5 against teams that played in the College World Series the year prior. Before Martinez took over, SDSU was in the midst of a 14-game losing streak against teams that played in the College World Series the year before.

STRIKEOUTS GALORE: San Diego State started the season with six consecutive games with 12 or more strikeouts, marking the longest such streak for the Aztecs since at least 2000. The Aztecs currently rank 13th in the nation with 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings this season. Logan Boyer is second in the Mountain West with 21 strikeouts this year.

CALIFORNIA LOVE: Since 2014, the Aztecs lead all Division I California programs in win total. Also, over that span, SDSU is 97-46 (.682) when playing in-state counterparts.
