Aztec Storylines
CLOSING MARCH: San Diego State welcomes Fresno State for a three-game Mountain West series beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

Both Saturday and Sunday's games will stream on the Mountain West Network with Jordan Carruth on the call.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE BULLDOGS: Last season, SDSU broke an even 99-99 tie in the all-time series with a series-clinching 7-0 win on April 22, 2018 to take a 100-99 lead. The series win for SDSU also snapped a skid of back-to-back home series losses against Fresno State.

RUDICK ON FIRE: Matt Rudick currently rides a career-long 16-game hitting streak, which is the longest since current graduate assistant Danny Sheehan recorded a 17-game streak during the 2017 season. Rudick's current streak is the seventh by an Aztec since 2010 that is 15 games or longer.

Over Rudick's 16-game hitting streak, the sophomore is hitting .389 with team-highs in RBIs (17), doubles (five) and extra-base hits (seven).

Longest SDSU hitting streaks since 2010:
Mitch Blackburn (2010) - 23
Cory Vaughn (2010) - 21
Tim Zier (2012) - 21
Steven Pallares (2015) - 21
Alan Trejo (2017) - 18
Danny Sheehan (2017) - 17
Matt Rudick (2019) - 16
Chris Wilson (2011) - 15

IMPACT FRESHMEN: Freshmen Jaden Fein and Aaron Eden were the two brightest spots for the Aztecs last week, as Aaron Eden earned his first career win, pitching 7.1 shutout innings with six hits, no walks and two strikeouts and Jaden Fein led the offense with a .438 average (7-for-16) with a home run, two doubles, a triple, and five RBIs in SDSU's midweek game against Loyola Marymount and weekend series against New Mexico.

Eden allowed just one hit with runners on base (1-for-12, .083) in his Friday night start against the Lobos. The Los Angeles product's 7.1 innings pitched is the longest outing by an Aztec this season and marked as his second quality start of the year.

Eden's 1.91 ERA this season marks as the 14th best in the country among qualified freshmen (1 IP/team game played).

Fein hit his first career home run at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday and carried that momentum into the New Mexico series, leading SDSU with an .875 slugging percentage for the week. Fein came a home run short of the cycle in a 4-for-4 game in SDSU's 19-3 win over New Mexico on Saturday.

LACING UP FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER: SDSU baseball has partnered with Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer, where student-athletes and coaches will be wearing gold laces on their cleats to raise awareness for pediatric cancer.

WHERE WE RANK IN THE MW: The Aztecs are the only team in the Mountain West to be hitting .290 or better as a team while owning an ERA under 4.50.

San Diego State's .392 on base percentage currently leads the conference. On the mound, SDSU leads the league with 233 strikeouts.

The Aztecs are the only team in the conference to have four players slugging .462 or better, including Casey Schmitt (.506), Chad Bible (.468), Angelo Armenta (.466) and Matt Rudick (.462).

SEEING DOUBLE: SDSU's 29 double plays turned are the second most in the country, trailing only George Washington's 32. Since the start of the 2017 season, SDSU's 155 double plays turned are the most among any team in the nation.
