Aztecs Receiving Votes in Inside Lacrosse Poll

SAN DIEGO – San Diego Stateis receiving votes in the latest Inside Lacrosse Division I women's media poll entering the sixth week of the 2019 campaign.

The Aztecs are coming off an 18-15 triumph over LIU Brooklyn last Saturday to raise their record to 8-1, which marks the best start in the program's eight-year history.  With the victory, SDSU also completed a 5-0 homestand and extended its winning streak to six games overall.

The Aztecs are tied with USC for the fifth-best winning percentage (.889) in the country, trailing just four unbeaten squads in Michigan (10-0), Boston College (9-0), Maryland (9-0) and Notre Dame (8-0).

SDSU currently ranks 11th nationally in scoring offense with 15.56 goals per game while occupying the 18th spot in scoring margin (4.78). In addition, the Aztecs find themselves among the Division I leaders in shots per game (5th, 36.89), shots on goal per game (7th, 27.78) and 15th in free position percentage (.479, 45-94).

Individually, goalkeeper Katy Sharretts is ranked ninth in the country in both saves (89) and save percentage (.517), while Caitlin Jones is seventh in free position percentage (.800, 8-10). In addition, Taylor Sullivan is ranked 32nd with a team-high 25 goals.

San Diego State opens a six-game road swing this weekend when it travels to the Buckeye State to face Cincinnati (March 22) and Ohio State (March 24).
