SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State kicks off its Mountain West play this weekend with a home series against New Mexico. The Aztecs (12-13) and Lobos (7-16) are set to play at SDSU Softball Stadium at 6 p.m. PT Friday, 6 p.m. PT Saturday and noon PT Sunday.

The first 250 fans to Saturday's game will receive a free t-shirt.

SDSU enters league play with a 12-13 record, most recently falling to UC Riverside, 6-0, at home on Wednesday night.

San Diego State, which is hitting .249 as a team, has three players batting over .300 in Maddi Ayers (.359, .432 OB%), Taylor Adams (.323, 8 R, 9 RBI) and Molly Sturdivant (.303, 5 2B). Kelsey Munoz (.293), meanwhile, paces the Aztecs in home runs (3) and RBIs (13), and Kiera Wright (.291) leads the team with 17 runs and 13 stolen bases (in 13 chances).

Returning Wednesday night to pitch an inning after missing the last eight games with an injury, Marissa Moreno leads the pitching staff by going 5-3 with a save and a 3.83 ERA in 56 2/3 innings. She has two shutouts, three complete games and 50 strikeouts, limiting the opposition to a .260 average. Despite missing the eight games, Moreno ranks in a tie for second in the MW in saves, third in strikeouts and innings pitched, and tied for eight in wins.

Alicia Garcia (4-5, 4.32 ERA, 45.1 IP) and MJ James (3-5, 5.35 ERA, 55.0 IP) have also logged important innings in the circle for SDSU.

Following the home MW series, San Diego State travels to Boise State for a weekend series, beginning at 4 p.m. MT on March 22.
