COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Aztec pole vaulter Bonnie Draxler was named the Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. Draxler set a new Mountain West and SDSU record after clearing 14-10.00 (4.52m) at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday.

"I was so surprised when I cleared both 4.41m and 4.52," Draxler said after the meet. "It was such an amazing moment for me because I've been working so hard. This is my last year, so I want to give it everything I have."

Draxler's mark is the tenth best in NCAA indoor history and beat her previous school record by over six inches. She topped her nearest competitor by over 16 inches.

This is Draxler's fourth time winning the Mountain West Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award. She has also won twice in the outdoor season.

The Aztecs will be back in Albuquerque, N.M. for the Don Kirby Invitational this weekend.
