SAN DIEGO – Behind an eight-run sixth inning and Justin Goossen-Brown's first win of the season San Diego State baseball team finished off the Tony Gwynn Legacy with a 10-7 win over Kansas State on Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Aztecs improve to 5-2 on the young season, while the Wildcats fall to 3-5.

After falling into a 3-0 hole after the top of the third, SDSU responded with a single run in both the third and fourth innings to cut the deficit to 3-2. Angelo Armenta scored Jaden Fein with a bloop single to right field in the third, while Fein later returned the favor and recorded a two-out RBI single to score Brian Leonhardt in the fourth.

SDSU broke through with an eight-run sixth inning, beginning with a run of five consecutive batters safely reaching base. Leonhardt, Fein, Jacob Maekawa, and Matt Rudick all logged RBIs in the inning before Chad Bible pushed the SDSU lead to 10-4 after a bases-clearing two-out 3 RBI double.

With SDSU starter Brad Wegman exiting the game after the first inning, SDSU relied mostly on Justin Goossen-Brown, who recorded three innings of shutout, one-hit relief to earn his first win of the season. Goossen-Brown finished his outing with four strikeouts and one walk allowed against the 11 batters he faced.
