  • San Diego State opens up a two-game Mountain West homestand on Saturday afternoon with a game against UNLV.
  • Saturday's head coaches - Brian Dutcher and Marvin Menzies - are two of three current Mountain West head coaches who served as assistant coaches under Steve Fisher at San Diego State.
  • Menzies served with Fisher and Dutcher as an assistant for their first four seasons at SDSU (from 1999-00 through 2002-03).
  • The Aztecs and Rebels will meet for the 50th time in series history with the Rebels owning a 36-33 series lead. The Aztecs once trailed the series, 26-6, (SDSU is 27-10 since that time).
  • San Diego State has won 12 of the last 13 games played between the teams (regardless of location), including the last five meetings in San Diego.
  • Dutcher has been on the SDSU sidelines for 29 of SDSU's 33 victories in the series. Those 29 wins have come against eight different UNLV head coaches (Bill Bayno, Max Good, Charlie Spoonhour, Jay Spoonhour, Lon Kruger, Dave Rice, Todd Simon and Marvin Menzies).
  • San Diego State has won eight straight home games against Mountain West competition and is 11-1 in its last 12 and is 47-6 in such games since Jan. 26, 2013. During the eight-game win streak, SDSU has outscored their opponents by 161 points (+20.1 scoring margin).
  • Jalen McDaniels, who on Monday was named the MW Player of the Week, has been on fire as of late. In his last seven games, the sophomore is averaging 19.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and has connected on 56-of-100 field goal attempts (56.0 percent). Since Dec. 29, McDaniels is one of three players in the nation to be averaging at least 19 points, 9 rebounds and shooting 54 percent or better from the field. The others are Duke's Zion Williamson and Louisiana's Jakeenan Gant.
  • McDaniels has posted double-doubles in a personal best four consecutive games. He is the first Aztec player to do that since Kawhi Leonard posted a pair of four-game streaks during February 2011. Only once in the last 23 seasons has an Aztec player posted a streak of at least five straight games with double-doubles in a single season (5, Kawhi Leonard to open the 2010-11 campaign).
  • The Aztecs are 8-2 in home games this season with a +182-point scoring margin in the 10 contests at Viejas Arena.
  • At home, SDSU has significant advantages in field goal shooting (47.5-38.9), three-point field goal percentage (42.0-30.0) and has nearly made more free throws (168) than its opponents have attempted (177).
