Aztecs Wrap up MLK Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The San Diego State Track & Field Team completed their first meet of the season Saturday afternoon at the MLK Invite in Albuquerque, N.M.

Four underclassmen (one sophomore and three freshmen) cracked the all-time top ten with their performances Saturday. Sophomore Callista Fletcher PR'd in the 60m dash (7.49), the ninth best time in program history, in the prelims. Freshmen Nyjari McNeil, who set a school record in the 600 the previous day, ran the 800m in 2:14.09, good for No. 6 all-time. Danae Dyer ran the 60m hurdles in 8:36, the seventh best time and Jordyn Bryant had an impressive collegiate debut in the shotput with a throw of 45-01.00, No. 9 in school history.

The day began with Fletcher, Dyer and Tai McDonald qualifying for the 60m prelims. Fletcher then ran her 7.49 to advance to the finals.

Four Aztecs competing in the 800m: McNeil (2:14.09), Sakura Roberson (6th; 2:19.59), Angela Wilson (9th; 2:22.06) and Danielle Scott (12th; 2:27.68).

Freshman Kasey Ebb placed 11th in the 400m (57.80) and Lakin Hatcher crossed the line in 59.01 (16th).

Five Aztec pole vaulters were competing at the UCS Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev. Freshman Alysia Allen, a Reno native, cleared 3.95m. Taylor Alexander, Kaitlin Heri and Marissa Berry all jumped 3.75m. Rachel Craft had a no-height.

THE NOTE
