SCENE SETTER
* San Diego State and Air Force meet for the 36th time on the gridiron Friday night in San Diego.
* Although the Falcons lead the series, 19-16, the Aztecs have won the last seven encounters played between the teams. The last Air Force victory in the series came on Sept. 26, 2009.
* Rocky Long owns 11 career victories against the Air Force Academy. That is the most among active coaches nationally (five more than Ken Niumatalolo (Navy) and Gary Patterson (TCU)).
* The game is a rematch of the two teams that met for the 2015 Mountain West championship (won by SDSU, 27-14) and is the first meeting since the bizarre rain storm that plagued last season's game in which there was no halftime (SDSU won, 28-24).

RECAPPING THE BOISE STATE GAME
* Rocky Long is the only active coach in the country who has defeated Boise State in Boise twice. The only coaches to do it once are Bob Davie (New Mexico), Gary Patterson (TCU), Troy Calhoun (Air Force) and Bronco Mendenhall (Virginia).
* Since 2000, Boise State is 109-8 at home. The Aztecs are 2-1 during that stretch while the rest of the country is 6-108.
* San Diego State held Boise State to 229 total yards. That is its lowest output since gaining 206 yards against 13th-ranked Michigan State on Aug. 31, 2012. It is its lowest offensive output in a home game since Oct. 24, 1998 vs. Utah State (203 yards).
* The 13 points are the fewest scored by the Broncos in a home game since Sept. 20, 2012, when Boise State scored seven points in a 7-6 win against Brigham Young. The last time they were held to 13 or fewer points, regardless of location, was on Dec. 27, 2016 against Baylor (31-12).
* Boise State's passing efficiency rating of 70.34 was its fifth lowest since 1996, lowest since Sept. 3, 2005 (at No. 13 Georgia) and lowest in a home game since Oct. 25, 1997 (Louisiana Tech).
* The Aztecs improved to 15-3 over their last 18 road games since Oct. 10, 2015. SDSU has the second-most victories (15) during that period, trailing only Clemson (16).
* SDSU won its 25th straight game when committing less turnovers than its opponent (31-6 in Rocky Long era). That is the longest active win streak in the nation.
* The Aztecs won their 33rd consecutive game when holding their opponent to 24 or less points (56-4 in the Rocky Long era) and 27th straight game when holding their opponent to 17 or less points (42-1 in the Rocky Long era).

FROM THE FILM ROOM (through games of Oct. 6; all Film Room numbers provided by Pro Football Focus)
* Junior linebacker Kyahva Tezino was dominant in the game against Boise State. Tezino was strong vs the run: nine defensive stops, with six coming vs. run attempts. He performed well in coverage as well, with just 21 total receiving yards allowed in coverage on three receptions. Once again, he was sensational providing pressure with one sack, four quarterback hits and two hurries. His five combined sacks/QB hits yesterday was the most by any linebacker in the nation this week and Tezino now has more combined sacks/QB hits (10) than any other LB in the nation. Tezino now has the second-most quarterback pressures when rushing the QB and the fourth most overall run stop percentage among all FBS linebackers in 2018.
* The San Diego State offensive line put on a run-blocking clinic on Saturday. Every starting member of the offensive line recorded an above average run blocking grade against the Broncos, with sophomore right guard Keith Ismael leading the way for the Aztecs with the highest run blocking grade. This was the 11th straight game for San Diego State with at least 150 rushing yards.
* Targeting senior Aztec Parker Baldwin in coverage is never a good idea and that was proven once again on Saturday. Baldwin was targeted in coverage six times and allowed just one reception that gained exactly one yard. Baldwin had a passer rating allowed of just 39.6 when targeted. On the season Baldwin has allowed a catch rate of just 38.5 percent. He has allowed just five receptions on 13 targets in his coverage and has allowed one reception every 45.0 coverage snaps this season. That is far and away the best rate among Mountain West safeties.
* Junior tight end Parker Houston has been thrown at 14 times in 2018 and has 12 receptions giving him an overall catch rate of 85.7 percent. That is tied for the best rate among tight ends in the Mountain West. Houston has played 78 percent of San Diego State's offensive snaps this season.
* Junior QB Ryan Agnew wasn't shy about pushing the ball down the field vs Boise State. More than half (7) of Agnew's 13 aimed pass attempts traveled 10+ yards past the line of scrimmage on Saturday. Agnew gained 85 of his 107 passing yards (79.4%) on attempts aimed 10+ yards past the line of scrimmage.
