SAN DIEGO - San Diego State rising sophomore rowers Hannah Broadland and Julia Camillucci competed in last weekend's USRowing Club National Championships on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. Broadland finished the weekend with a win in the women's elite/senior 8+ final as the coxswain for her Michigan Rowing Association crew, while Camillucci, who raced with the Oklahoma City High Performance Center, logged a sixth-place finish in her intermediate double semifinal and fifth in the women's elite/senior 4x final.

Following her team's successful performance at Club Nationals, Broadland and her Michigan Rowing Association crew will travel to Shanghai, China, to compete at the World University Championships, where collegiate rowers from across the country will represent the United States. The World University Championships are set to take place on August 10-12.

"I haven't been able to race since my conference championships in May-which actually happened to be at the same course-so I was completely ready to go and leave it all out on the Cooper River," Broadland said. "We got the result we wanted, and can't wait to keep training in preparation for Shanghai. I'm excited to use the skills I've learned at this camp to help improve our SDSU rowing team alongside coach Bill Zack."

Camillucci, who competes with the OKC High Performance Center, finished 16th in her qualifying time trial for the women's intermediate double before logging a sixth-place semifinal finish, and finished fifth in the women's elite/senior quad.
