SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's rowing is set to travel to the Camden, N.J. area for The American Rowing Championship on Saturday, May 12. The Aztecs begin races with its six other conference opponents at 8 a.m. ET at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J.

The Aztecs are set to compete in five events at the championship and will see all six conference teams, which include University of Central Florida, University of Connecticut, Sacramento State, Southern Methodist, Temple University and the University of Tulsa, in each of its races.

The Scarlet and Black will begin competition with the third varsity four at 8 a.m. SDSU will also enter a second varsity four in the 8:10 a.m. race and the varsity four will compete at 8:30 a.m. SDSU will face off against the conference in both the second varsity eight and varsity eight events, which are scheduled to start at 8:40 a.m. and 8:50 a.m., respectively.

At the conclusion of racing, The American will present awards to the medaling crews and will announce the winning team in the field, which will earn the conference's automatic team bid to the 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships.

This season, Aztec rowing has medaled in several races, including the team's most recent success at the WIRA Championships where they took home the first-place trophy in the V4, garnered a second-place finish in the V8 and finished third in the 2V8 final. The team's finishes at the WIRA Championships landed four Aztecs on the All-WIRA team, with Sara Avery and Brynn Danvers earning first team honors while Gina Bourke and Malia Metkiff made the second team.

Other highlights from the team's season include a V4 finish over SMU and Sac State at the San Diego Crew Classic, as well as a varsity eight win for the Cal Cup over five other opponents including SMU and Sac State. The Aztecs also logged straight wins over LMU and UCSD, and first place finishes in seven of its events at Sac State's Hornet Invitational.
