LA JOLLA, Calif. -- The San Diego State Track & Field team wrapped up the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego Saturday afternoon. The Aztecs shined in the sprints, taking first place in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. As a team, the Aztecs took fourth place out of 34 schools with 93 points.
Rochene Smith and Simone Glenn, who were competing in their first meet of the outdoor season, grabbed first and second place in the 100. Smith posted a personal best time of 11.50, good for the seventh best time in school history. Glenn wasn't far behind her, clocking in at 11.69. In the 200, Tyra Lea took first place, finishing in 24.25. Lakin Hatcher finished in third place behind a personal best time of 24.61.
Lisa-Anne Barrow had another strong weekend and earned a second place finish in the 400m. She finished in 53.44 in what was her first 400 competition of the season. Barrow's time was the eighth fastest in school history.
Je'Neal Ainsworth continued her standout outdoor season with a first place finish in the triple jump (41' 2.5").
Bonnie Draxler, who was competing unattached, won the pole vault invitational, clearing 13' 9.25". Her teammate, Kaitlin Heri, finished in second with a mark of 12' 9.5".
UP NEXT
The Aztecs will be competing in the Bryan Clay Invitational next weekend at Azuza Pacific. Asia Smith will participate in the heptathlon on April 18th and then the rest of the team will compete April 19-20.
THE NOTE I
Je'Neal Ainsworth has finished first or second in the triple jump in all five competitions so far this season.

The Aztecs had five top three finishes in the sprinting events -- the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes.
