NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - No. 14 San Diego State let the middle part of the game slip away, falling to T-No. 19 Long Beach State, 10-6, Saturday afternoon at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational. The Aztecs drop to 5-7 on the season and the 49ers move to 2-8.

The teams were tied at 2-2 after one period and then things began to go sideways for SDSU. The Aztecs were outscored, 3-1, in the second quarter and went into halftime down by a manageable 5-3 score. After intermission, however, LBSU posted five goals to take a 10-5 lead into the final eight minutes and then allowed just one SDSU goal to provide the final margin.

Shelby Kraft led San Diego State with two goals and four other Aztecs (Lizzy Bilz, Karli Canale, Hannah Carrillo, Maddy Parenteau) scored once. Maura Cantoni made eight saves in between the posts.

NOTE I
Sophomore utility Shelby Kraft led the team in scoring for the first time of her career. She has nine goals this season and her total surpasses her freshman year total of five.

NOTE II
Goalkeeper Maura Cantoni made her sixth straight start, which is a personal-long streak. In those six outings, she is averaging 8.3 saves per contest.
