SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior diver Alexandra Caplan earned Mountain West Diver of the Week honors after a pair of season-best scores in a double dual meet against UC San Diego and Pepperdine last Friday. It is the first weekly honor for Caplan this season and the seventh of senior's career.
The seven career weekly honors ranks her second in Aztec diving history, trailing only Kristen Meier, who won 10 awards from 2010-2012.
Caplan posted a pair of NCAA Zone-qualifying scores, using a 325.20 in 1-meter competition and 315.15 in 3-meter action to lead the pack of 12 divers in both events last Friday. Caplan's 315.15 in 3-meter competition is the sixth best score in the Mountain West this year, while her 325.20 in the 1-meter is the second best in the conference in 2017-18.
Caplan and the rest of the Aztec swimming and diving team are in the midst of a three-week hiatus from competition but pick things back up in a double dual meet at the Aztec Aquaplex on Friday, Dec. 22 against Cal Poly and Air Force.
