SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State track and field team hosted another successful Red-Black All-Comers and Intrasquad Meet on Dec. 9.
A meet-record 415 athletes (of the 461 that registered) competed at the meet, up significantly from last year's 358 competitors. Ranging from ages 5 to 81, athletes from California, including Northern California, Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico competed in the meet.
The highlight of the meet was Linda Cohn setting a World and American W65-69 record in the javelin with a throw of 33.99 meters (111-06).
Multiple individual wins by SDSU competitors came from Lisa-Anne Barrow in the 150 meters (17.90 seconds) and the long jump (5.97m (19-07.00)), and later teaming up in the winning 4x400-meter relay in 3:48.22, and Ashley Henderson in both the 60 meters (7.35) and the 300 (37.82)
Other San Diego State victories came from Monique McPherson in the 600 (1:32.86), Ellison Grove in the 1,000 (2:53.48), Lily Seynaeve in the 3,000 (10:38.29), Asia Smith in the 60 hurdles (8.89), Hannah Taylor in the high jump (1.68m (5-06.00)), Bonnie Draxler in the pole vault (4.10m (13-05.25)) and Melody Harris in the javelin (46.14m (151-04)).
Joining Barrow in the winning 4x400 was May Brosch, Simone Glenn and McPherson.
The Red team ended up defeating the Black by a score of 71-59.
The Aztecs officially kick off their 2018 indoor campaign Jan. 13 at the UW Preview in Seattle.
