The San Diego State swimming and diving team took first place in eight of the first nine events at UC Davis on Saturday, leading the way for a 155.5-136.5 dual-meet victory over the Aggies. With the win, the Aztecs extend their dual meet winning streak to 17, extending a run that dates back to the 2015-16 campaign.
Caitlin Delaney, Klara Thormalm, Alma Thormalm and Summer Harrison collected the first top finish for the Aztecs on Saturday, posting a time of 1:45.17 in the 200 medley relay.
McKenna Meyer continued her impressive sophomore campaign, grabbing first-place honors in the 1000 free with a season-best time of 10:14.08. Meyer later grabbed another top finish in the 500 free, recording a time of 5:02.40.
Alexandra Caplan shined in both diving events, finishing in first place for both events. Her scores of 304.42 on the 1-meter and 310.50 on the 3-meter were both season-bests, and both are the second-best scores by Mountain West divers this season.
Frida Berggren posted a time of 1:53.47 for first place in the 200 free, finishing just ahead of teammate Kassidy Henson, who grabbed second place with a time of 1:54.13. Elliyana Ferrin recorded a time of 57.51 to lead the field in the 100 back.
SDSU took first, second and third place in the 100 breast, being led by Caitlin Delaney, who finished first at 1:05.20. Delaney was followed by teammates Morganne McKennan (1:06.71) and Larisa Tam (1:05.83).
The sisterly duo of Klara and Alma Thormalm finished first and second, respectively, in the 50 free. Klara Thormalm clocked in at 23.92, only 0.16 seconds faster than her sister, who collected second place at 24.08. Two events later, Alma Thormalm grabbed a first-place finish of her own, posting a 52.06 in the 100 free.
The SDSU divers will see action on Nov. 10-12 in Los Angeles, taking part in the Trojan Invite hosted by USC. The Aztecs as a unit are fully back in action from Nov. 16-18 for the A3 Invitational at the Aztec Aquaplex.
