SAN DIEGO - Five San Diego State water polo players earned Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Awards, the ACWPC announced on Friday. The five honorees match the most in single-season school history.

Senior Alyssa Diacono landed on the Outstanding Team, which recognizes student-athletes with grade-point averages between 4.00-3.71. The highest academic award given by the ACWPC is Diacono's fourth in four years. With her 4-for-4 effort, she becomes the first Aztec in program history to accomplish the feat. Additionally, Diacono now owns four of the nine Outstanding awards in school history.

Seniors Katy Schneider and Mikayla Vessey, junior Lizzy Bilz and freshman Teesa Heidari, meanwhile, picked up Excellent Team accolades. The quartet turned in GPAs between 3.40-3.20. All four are first-time award winners.

The Aztecs in 2017 won their fourth straight Golden Coast Conference regular-season title, going 7-0 in the process and ran their all-time GCC record to 26-0. SDSU finished the year ranked No. 13 in the final top-25 poll, its highest final ranking since 2013.
