In the opening day of the 2017 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships, San Diego State track and field senior Kassidy Ellis is seventh in the heptathlon after four events at Utah State's Ralph Maughn Stadium.
Ellis amassed 3,062 points for seventh place after completing four of seven events. Nevada's Nicole Wadden leads the charge with 3,358 points. She is followed by SJSU's Jade Childs (3,293), FSU's Jestena Mattson (3,282), UNLV's Stella Clemens (3,245), New Mexico's Kyra Mohns (3,184) and SJSU's Kolbi Sims (3,108).
Ellis opened the day by taking third in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.21 to total 949 points.
In the high jump, Ellis picked up 747 points when she tied for eighth with a five-foot, three-and-a-quarter-inch mark. She then took 10th in the shot put with a 32-08.50 throw, collecting 527 points.
Ellis capped the day with a 25.53 time in the 200-meter dash, earning her 839 points.
The heptathlon concludes tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. (MT) with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
