San Diego State video coordinator Brian Murphy has been named the 2016-17 Mountain West Conference Video Coordinator of the Year, the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) announced recently. This is Murphy's sixth such honor after he earned the award in 2003, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2016.

Murphy was voted to receive the award by his Mountain West peers and is now a finalist for the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 18.

Murphy has served on the San Diego State athletic department staff since August 2003. As the video coordinator, he films and edits the Aztec football games and practices, and coordinates film exchange with other schools. Additionally, he is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the video room and assists with the video needs of other Aztec sports.

Prior to arriving at SDSU, Murphy was an assistant video director with the San Diego Chargers from 1997-2000. Murphy graduated from Mira Mesa High School in 1995 and attended both SDSU and Miramar College. He currently lives in Poway with his wife, Shawna, and their daughters, Cali and Finley.
