SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Women's rowing head coach Bill Zack was recently re-elected vice president of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association at the CRCA's December board meeting in Springfield, Mass. Zack enters his 20th year on the board of directors over the course of four separate stints.

Zack's contributions to the association are plenty and unmatched. Zack helped form the association and served on its board of directors in 1993. Since then, he served as the CRCA's president from 2010-2012 and vice president from 1998-2005. He was again elected vice president in 2015 and continues to assume the position into the present with his re-election. He is one of two Division I representatives from NCAA Region 4 (the American Athletic Conference and the Big Ten Conference) on the CRCA's board of directors.

His colleagues also selected him to chair the organization's Legislative Review Committee once again. Zack has served as the committee's chair ever since its inception. The committee is tasked with working alongside the NCAA on rule changes and educating others about the rules and compliance standards.

Zack was instrumental in helping the CRCA kick start the first NCAA Championships regatta in May of 1997. At the time, Zack was also head coach of Sacramento State's rowing team and rowing coordinator for the Sacramento State Aquatic Center and submitted the winning bid to hold the first NCAA Championships Regatta in Sacramento. In addition, he spearheaded the event's marketing and promotions campaign, announced all of the races and coached Sacramento State to a bronze medal.

The CRCA is the association for coaches of varsity women's rowing teams at NCAA Division I, Division II or Division III schools. The CRCA has worked with the NCAA to evolve the format of championship regattas and also contributed to the development of NCAA rules when women's rowing began to emerge.

The association's other initiatives include the implementation and support of the Pocock All-America awards, the national scholar-athlete program and more. The organization also hosts coaching education conferences and recognizes outstanding coaches across the country.
