Aztecs Set to Visit San Jose State, Fresno State This Week

AZTECS ON THE ROAD AT SAN JOSE STATE & FRESNO STATE
The San Diego State volleyball team will play a pair of Mountain West matches on the road this week in its penultimate road swing of the 2016 season. The trip begins with a contest at San Jose State on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 6:00 p.m. in Spartan Gym in San Jose. Two days later, the Aztecs will square off against Fresno State on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1:00 p.m. (PT) at FSU's Save Mart Center. SERIES RECORDS
The Aztecs have a record of 20-8 against San Jose State including a three-set victory on Aztec Court in early October. The Spartans last bested San Diego State in 2014 at home with SDSU winning the last four in a row and six of the last seven encounters between the schools.
San Diego State has a record of 30-10 all-time vs Fresno State since the teams first met during the 1980 season. The Aztecs have won each the last five contests against the Bulldogs and eight of the previous nine. The Aztecs have ben victorious in each of their last two visits to Fresno.

BOLDEN SERVES IT UP
Danielle Bolden has recorded at least one service ace in 10 of the Aztecs' last 11 matches. She had a season-high five aces in the win over Utah State on Aztec Court on Sept. 26. Her mark of 0.50 aces per set in conference matches leads the league this week while her overall mark of 0.34 aces per set stands sixth in the overall stats. In addition, Bolden's averages of 2.24 digs per set in all matches and 2.14 per set in conference play are second only to libero Devyn Pritchard for the team lead.

PSOMA LEADS HITTERS
Sophomore Alexandra Psoma set a career high with 23 kills against Boise State last Saturday (Oct. 29) and also had a personal best 23.5 points in the match. Over SDSU's two contests last week, she averaged 4.63 kills per set while hitting .468. She continues to lead the SDSU offense with an average of 3.25 kills per set in all matches, a mark that is just outside the top 10 (11th) in the Mountain West this week. After 11 Mountain West matches, she is averaging 3.52 kills per set in league play to rank fourth in the category in conference contests. Psoma has finished in double figures in kills in 10 of SDSU's last 11 matches.

THOMPSON SETS IT UP
Setter Indigo Thompson, a sophomore transfer from Virginia Commonwealth, returned to her starting role as the lone setter after the Aztecs had used a 6-2 formation in several recent matches. In her starts in the most recent three contests when San Diego State has employed a 5-1 formation, she has averaged 11.60 assists per set. Thompson's mark of 10.58 assists per set in Mountain West play ranks fifth in the conference this week. Her overall assist mark of 9.32 per set is seventh-best in the league.

HARRIS REMAINS HOT
Deja Harris has hit .300 or higher in 16 of SDSU's 24 matches this season. Her .368 hitting percentage in all matches this season stands third in the conference this week. She is eighth in league play with a .304 hitting percentage. She has averaged 1.08 blocks per set over San Diego State's last six outings.

CAGE COMES ON
Senior outside hitter Alexis Cage has averaged 2.54 kills per set over SDSU's past six matches. She notched her first double-double of the season with 16 kills and 12 digs at Wyoming on Oct. 13. She has recorded at least two digs in each of the Aztecs' 25 matches this season.

PRITCHARD AT LIBERO
Sophomore Devyn Pritchard has been SDSU's starter at the libero position in each of the past 14 matches during which she is averaging 3.17 digs per set. She averaged 4.00 digs per set in the match vs. Boise State last Saturday (Oct. 29). She set her season high with 23 digs in the win over Utah State on Sept. 24. Pritchard's average of 3.13 digs per set ranks eighth in the overall league stats this week while her mark of 3.05 dps in conference matches is 10th.
