TULSA, Okla.-- The San Diego State men's tennis doubles team of Santiago Cevallos (Queretaro, Mexico) and Milen Ianakiev (Elz, Hesse, Germany) split their two matches Monday in the qualifying bracket of the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Aztec pairing rallied from an early one-set deficit in their round of 64 encounter to outlast the tandem of Jai Corbett and Mitch Harper of Virginia Tech in a super tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5).
However, the SDSU duo was unable to sustain the momentum in the round of 32, falling to the Ohio State combo of Martin Joyce and Hugo Di Feo, 6-4, 6-3.
Marko Goles-Babic and Sander Gjoels-Andersen joined forces in the Aztecs' other round of 32 matchup, but fell to the LSU pairing of Justin Butsch and Jordan Daigle by a 6-3, 6-3 tally.
San Diego State returns to action this weekend when it plays host to the Aztec Fall Invitational, Oct. 7-9, at Aztec Tennis Center.
