SAN DIEGO -- After winning the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Tournament championship with two impressive victories last weekend, the San Diego State men's soccer team continues its upward trajectory in the national rankings. The Aztecs climbed two places into the 11th position in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll and also moved up to the No. 7 slot in the latest Soccer America rankings.

In this week's NSCAA poll, SDSU garnered 352 points to vault ahead of No. 12 Wake Forest (311 pts.), No. 13 UC Santa Barbara (298 pts.), No. 14 Creighton (281 pts.) and No. 15 Boston College (244 pts.). In addition, the Aztecs are one of three Pac-12 Conference teams in the aforementioned rankings, joining No. 7 UCLA (462 pts.) and No. 25 Stanford (61 pts.), while Washington is receiving votes.

For the second straight week, Notre Dame (597 pts.) maintained its perch atop the NSCAA poll ahead of second-place North Carolina (550 pts.), while Indiana (531 pts), Maryland (509 pts.) and Syracuse (500 pts) round out the top five.

In the Soccer America rankings, SDSU occupies the seventh spot, trailing only North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Maryland, Clemson and Indiana, while UCLA, Akron and Wake Forest comprise the rest of the top 10.

The Aztecs, who are off to an undefeated start this season (4-0-1) also appear at No. 17 in this week's College Soccer News Top 30 national poll and are ranked 24th by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

San Diego State has shutout its last four adversaries, including a 3-0 conquest of UT Rio Grande Valley last Friday, followed by a 2-0 blanking of Memphis on Sunday. The Aztecs also posted back-to-back 1-0 victories over Bradley at the Gonzaga Soccer Tournament on Aug. 28 and then-No. 1 Akron at SDSU Sports Deck on Sept. 2.

With its sweep, the Aztecs have held the opposition without a goal in their last 457 minutes and 41 seconds of playing time and are now 28-7-3 (.776) in non-conference home matches since the start of the 2010 campaign, including a 14-2-1 (.853) ledger in the past two years. As a team, the SDSU enters the week ranked third in the nation in goals against average (.019) and shutout percentage (0.80).

Individually, the Aztecs have been led by junior forward Jeroen Meefout (Houten, Netherlands), who was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Tuesday and earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. In addition, goalkeeper Adam Allmaras (San Diego, Calif.) has accounted for all four clean sheets this season, giving him 14 for his career. The redshirt junior also received conference player of the week recognition on Sept. 6.

San Diego State will be back in action on Saturday when it ventures north to face Cal Poly, beginning at 7 p.m. PT in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The Aztecs will then return to Montezuma Road on Friday, Sept. 23, when they square off against Pacific to open a five-match homestand.
