KINGSTON, R.I. - San Diego State will open play at the Art Carmichael Invitational against host Rhode Island this afternoon at 7:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. PT) in Keaney Gymnasium on the URI campus.
The Rams' record stands at 3-3 entering the weekend. After opening the season with three losses, the Rams swept through the Hartford Invitational last weekend, defeating Manhattan, Central Connecticut and Hartford to even their season ledger.
The Aztecs, meanwhile saw their record fall to 3-4 on the year after the loss to UC Irvine at home on Wednesday. The defeat was the second five-set loss of the season for SDSU.
Freshman Tamia Reeves has worked her way into the starting lineup over the last two matches and tied her season high with 13 kills against the Anteaters on Wednesday. She heads into today's contest with an average of 2.80 kills per set and a .542 hitting percentage.
SDSU has three other players averaging over two kills per set including Alexandra Psoma (2.62), Deja Harris (2.44) and Alexis Cage (2.04). Harris' .398 hitting percentage this season tanks fifth in the Mountain West heading into the weekend.
Following today's contest vs. URI, the Aztecs will continue tournament play on Saturday with contests against Notre Dame and Stony Brook.
