LIVE RESULTS

Ashley Henderson qualified for Saturday's finals in two events to pace the No. 23 San Diego State track and field Thursday at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. Henderson advanced in the 100-meter dash and anchored the 4x100-meter relay on the Aztecs' first day of competition at historic Hayward Field.

The day started off for SDSU in the 4x100 relay as the quartet of Starlynn Singleton, Simone Glenn, Micha Auzenne and Henderson ran a school-record time of 43.55 seconds. The time eclipsed the relay team's previous-best time of 44.30 and also broke the previous school best of 44.24, set in 2002. It was the third-fastest time in the first heat and the sixth-fastest time overall. The finals will be contested at 3:32 p.m. PT Saturday.

In the 100, Henderson pulled away late to win the first heat in 11.21, good enough for the fourth-fastest time out of the 24 entrants. Her time of 11.21 is just 0.01 seconds off from Tonette Dyer's school-record time of 11.20, set in 2004. The finals of the 100 is set for 4:22 p.m. PT Saturday.

Henderson, however, was unable to advance in the 200, finishing third in her heat and 11th overall in 23.30 into a 0.5-mph headwind and light rain.

Auzenne also competed as an individual in the 100 hurdles, tying her wind-legal best time of 13.27 to finish sixth in the third heat and 19th out of 24 entrants overall. The time was the sixth fastest in program history.

Alexa Evans and Rachel Alesi compete in the discus throw at 3:05 p.m. PT Saturday, while the 4x100 (3:32 p.m. PT) and the 100 (4:22 p.m. PT) will go on later in the day.
