The Summer Night Track and Field Series started in the summer of 2010 and has grown each year because of the meet directors, competitors, USATF, Movin Shoes and the Grassroots Running Project.
"We have four great events the community can take part in and enjoy," 2016 Summer Nights Track & Field Series Director Paul Greer said. "We are indeed very proud of the seven-year history of the series. Track and field is for everybody and we'd love to see you at our upcoming events."
"We have been a part of both the winter and summer track and field series put on by the USATF San Diego Association," Burrell said. "Events like this that invite the community to visit our beautiful campus and be part of something positive and family oriented is a great way to bring exposure to our track and field program as well as the university.
"Last year's event was a blast. It was so much fun. We saw families bringing young kids to experience track and field for the first time. One family was on vacation in San Diego, read online that we had a meet and decided to bring their three kids to run for fun. We also saw competitors of all abilities trying different events for the pure joy of trying something new.
"It's a great event for our local high school, junior college and college athletes to also compete in, as we are able to provide a competitive experience for them as well as cater to the novice track and field community.
"The SDSU track and field program would like to invite as many people with an interest to our July 13 summer nights meet. All you need is a great attitude and a willingness to do your best."
