IRVINE, Calif. - The San Diego State track and field team had five athletes compete on the first day of the adidas/Steve Scott Invitational Friday in Irvine, Calif.

In the track events, Elaine Ribeiro finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11 minutes, 9.49 seconds, while Lily Seynaeve came in 12th in the 5,000 in 18:17.36.

On the field side, Jelena McNown had a solid outing with at third-place showing in the long jump out of 27 entrants with a wind-aided leap of 19 feet, 4 ¼ inches (5.90m). McNown's best wind-legal mark was 19.00.50 (5.80m).

Sara Curran and Katherine Magill, meanwhile, tied for 10th in the pole vault, clearing 11-08.00 (3.56m).

The Aztecs are back in action on Saturday as the discus throw starts at 12:15 p.m. PT and the 1,500 ends the meet at 4:40 p.m. PT.
