TROJAN INVITATIONAL RESULTS | ROSS & SHARON INVITATIONAL RESULTS
The San Diego State track and field team had a successful day at the Trojan Invitational in Los Angeles and the Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet on Saturday. Overall, the Aztecs won two individual events and a relay over the two meets.
At the Trojan Invite on the campus of USC, Madison Gipson won the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 0.99 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Lakin Hatcher, Simone Glenn, Micha Auzenne and Tyra Lea, meanwhile, ended the day on a high note with a win with a time of 3:44.17.
SDSU's other title on the day came in the pole vault at the Point Loma meet (Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate Meet), where Karen Snapper (13-03.00 (4.04m)), Bonnie Draxler (12-09.00 (3.89m)) and Marisa Berry (12-05.25 (3.79m)) finished first, second and third, respectively, as the team's only competitors. Snapper's mark of 13-03.00 would have put her into the NCAA West Regional meet a year ago. According to TFRRS, the 13-03.00 tops the Mountain West and ranks as the 15th-best mark in the country this year. It was also a lifetime-best mark.
Jelena McNown took second in the long jump at the Trojan Invite with a leap of 18-08.00 (5.69m), while Lisa-Anne Barrow was fourth in 18-01.75 (5.53m).
Also in Los Angeles, Starlynn Singleton came in third in the triple jump (45-03.75 (13.81)) and fourth in the 100 in 12.01.
Simone Glenn took fourth in the 400 (55.86), Sierra Brabham-Lawrence was fourth in the 100 hurdles (13.88) and Rachel Alesi came in fifth in the shot put (45-03.75 (13.81m).
The 4x100-meter relay team of Micha Auzenne, Ashley Henderson, Jazmen Bunch and Glenn ran to a third-place time of 45.57.
San Diego State hosts the 38th annual Aztec Invitational next weekend.
