SDSU Men's Basketball Game Notes | SDSU Broadcast Flip

NEWS AND NOTES (through Jan. 31 games)

* San Diego State plays the first of two home games this week on Tuesday night when the Aztecs play host to Colorado State at 8 p.m. PT on ESPN2.

* The Aztecs have won nine consecutive games, which is tied for the sixth-longest win streak in school history and is currently the sixth-longest active streak in the nation.

* San Diego State has won 11 consecutive Mountain West games (dates back to last season). That is the longest conference win streak in the school's 95 seasons of basketball.

* The Aztecs are looking to match their best start to a conference season in school history. SDSU, currently 9-0 in league play, is a victory away from tying the 2013-14 squad which opened Mountain West play 10-0.

* San Diego State has won its most recent encounter against every Mountain West school (UNLV 7, Nevada 6, Utah State 6, Air Force 5, San José State 5, Colorado State 3, Fresno State 2, New Mexico 2, Boise State 1 and Wyoming 1).

* On Saturday, SDSU defeated UNLV for a school-record seventh consecutive time and ran its national-leading win streak against the Rebels in Thomas & Mack Center to five games with a 67-52 victory. The 15-point margin for SDSU was the largest at UNLV in the 35 games played in Las Vegas.

* San Diego State and Colorado State are meeting for the 78th time, with the Aztecs owning a 39-38 series lead. The Aztecs have won the last three encounters, 17 of the last 20 meetings (17-3) and 22 of the last 26 get-togethers (22-4).

* SDSU has won the last 12 games played between the teams in San Diego.

* Since Jan. 26, 2013, San Diego State has compiled a 27-1 record in Mountain West home games. During that stretch, the Aztecs have held their opposition to 53.6 points per game and 36.7 percent from the field, including 27.7 percent from three-point distance.

* Among the 11 teams that have yet to lose a conference game, San Diego State's nine league wins are the second most in the country (Wichita State, 10).

* SDSU is once again one of the elite defensive teams in the country. The Aztecs, who ranked ninth in tempo-free adjusted defense in 2013-14 and fourth in 2014-15, are currently second nationally, allowing 89.1 points per 100 possessions according to Kenpom. The Aztecs trail only Valparaiso in the metric.

* The Aztecs are second nationally in points allowed per game (59.5), first in field-goal percentage defense (36.1), first in two-point field-goal percentage defense (39.6 percent) and 16th in blocked shots per game (5.64).

* San Diego State has held 15 consecutive opponents to less than 43-percent field-goal shooting (longest active streak in the nation) and nine straight opponents to less than 40.5-percent field-goal shooting (2nd longest streak to Connecticut, 11).

* San Diego State has had a rebound advantage in nine of its last 10 games. The one exception was at Colorado State when the Rams owned a 36-30 edge on the glass. The Aztecs have won seven straight and are 117-19 the last 136 times they have owned an advantage in the category.

* The Aztecs have won 13 straight games and are 25-1 since Jan. 31, 2015, when shooting at least 38.9 percent from the field.

* Since the beginning of the 2013-14 campaign, San Diego State has won 22 games when shooting less than 40 percent from the field.
