SAN DIEGO - San Diego State Director of Athletics Jim Sterk has announced that lacrosse head coach Kylee White has signed a contract extension through 2018.
"I am very excited about the future here at San Diego State," White said. "It has been an amazing experience starting this program. I am proud of what we have accomplished and am enthused with the direction in which we are moving. I am so thankful that I have been given this opportunity to lead such an amazing group of young women and am proud to be an Aztec for life."
White enters her fifth season at the helm of the Aztecs' program in 2016, and is the program's only coach after lacrosse became the 19th collegiate sport at SDSU in 2012. She has guided the program to a spot as a top contender in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, with back-to-back MPSF Tournament appearances highlighting her most recent seasons.
In 2015, White, a four-time member of Canadian World Cup teams, piloted San Diego State to its best season yet, with a 9-8 mark and a fifth-place finish in the MPSF. Additionally, the team set a program mark for wins and produced a school-record seven-game winning streak. The Scarlet and Black saw three of its own pick up All-MPSF accolades, as Christina Ricciardulli and Lauren Paul became the first two Aztecs to earn first team conference honors, and Michaela Jarvis was named to the second team. The Aztecs also found success off the field, with nine student-athletes garnering MPSF All-Academic honors, a program best.
White recently announced San Diego State's challenging slate for the program's fifth season, which features five NCAA Tournament participants, including National Champion runner-up North Carolina. The Aztecs begin 2016 competition on the east coast with games at Elon on Feb. 12, North Carolina on Feb. 14 and Saint Joseph's on Feb. 27. The team's first game on Aztec Lacrosse Field is on March 1 against Michigan at 7 p.m.
