San Diego State-UNLV Postgame Quotes

San Diego State head coach Steve Fisher

On the second half:
"We strung together a couple of baskets and they strung together some of misses and we created a little separation. We got that eight-point lead and didn't let them jump it back to two. I think that was important. We went four or five minutes holding them off. We played hard."

On the defense:
"(SDSU assistant coach) Justin (Hutson) does a great job of demanding things and the No. 1 one thing is guard your man. We did a good job of that. We had help off the ball (on Stephen Zimmerman). It was a team effort defensively. You have to limit layups and dunks and offensively rebounds and we did a good job of that."

On Dakarai Allen:
"He made some huge plays on both ends. His threes were so timely and then the baskets he drove and finished. It gives him confidence and gives me confidence."

San Diego State guard Jeremy Hemsley

On the second half:
"We knew what type of looks we would get, we knew how they were going to play us and we knew that we couldn't let up. One of the bullet points we put up on the board when we watched film was just the first five minutes of the second half and I think we did a good job of winning the first five minutes."

On the team's defense:
"Our defense was really good tonight. I know in previous games, I didn't do a good job of setting the tone on defense so I treid to do that tonight. My teammates did a good job of pressuring everybody. It was an all-around team effort."

San Diego State guard Dakarai Allen

On his confidence:
"Coach Fisher gave me a book called Playing Through Pressure and I read that and it talked about not magnifying situations. I used to always magnify myself missing shots. I just realized that I play for Steve Fisher and that he doesn't care if I miss shots so why should I."

On hitting a three-pointer in the second half:
"Jeremy (Hemsley) told me before halftime that he was going to find me so be ready to shoot. He beat a couple guys and kicked out and I knew had to make it for him. He gave me confidence. He had confidence in me and I had confidence in myself."
