Ashley Henderson won the 200-meter dash and the distance medley relay team ran the second-fastest time in program history to lead the San Diego State track and field team Friday on the first day of the UW Invitational in Seattle.
Henderson beat out 80 other entrants in the 200 with a time of 24.19 seconds. The time tied Allison Reaser (2014) for the 10th-fastest indoor mark in program history.
The distance medley relay team of Rachel Roesgen (1,200), Lisa-Anne Barrow (400), Ellison Grove (800) and Elaine Ribeiro (1,600), meanwhile, ran the second-fastest time in program history at 12:06.14, just missing the school-record time of 12:05.71 set in 2014.
In the pentathlon, Kassidy Ellis finished with the sixth-highest total in school history with a five-event total of 3,682 points. Ellis first tied for seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.88, then tied for 11th in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 3 ¼ inches (1.61 meters). Ellis then was 14th in the shot put with a heave of 34-07.75 (10.56m) and followed with a fourth-place showing in the long jump with a leap of 18-04.50 (5.60). Ellis ended the grueling pentathlon in the 800-meter run, taking 19th in 2:29.05. Jelena McNown, meanwhile, came in 19th in the event out of 30 competitors with 3,315 points.
Jazmen Bunch (25.09) and Tyra Lea (25.19) added 12th and 13th-place finishes, respectively, in the open 200.
The pole vault results were not immediately available and will be posted as soon as possible.
