LOS ANGELES - San Diego State sophomore Payton Gabris led the Aztec divers with a 10th-place finish on the platform during the final day of the Bruin Diving Invitational at UCLA's Spieker Aquatic Center in Los Angeles.
Included in the field for the platform event was a total of 39 athletes from UCLA, USC, Cal, Utah, San Jose State, Fresno State, UC Davis and Cal State Bakersfield as well as SDSU.
Gabris began the day by posting a score of 203.40 in the five-dive preliminary round. Her total put her in 14th place and qualified her for the event finals. In addition, her score was a personal best and goes into the SDSU record book as the 10th-best mark ever on the platform by an Aztec diver. She went on to score 202.95 in the final round for a total of 406.35.
The event was won by UCLA's Annika Lenz, with a score of 600.20.
Also competing for San Diego State on Sunday were Alexandra Caplan, who scored 195.70 to finish 17th, Nicole Dutton, whose mark of 190.80 placed her 18th.
The San Diego State swimming and diving team will compete in its final dual meet of the season when its hosts the University of San Diego on Friday, Jan. 22, at noon at the Aztec Aquaplex.
