SAN DIEGO - San Diego State lacrosse head coach Kylee White has announced her team's schedule for the 2016 season. The fifth year of the program features regular season contests and an exhibition against five NCAA Tournament participants, including National Champion runner-up North Carolina.

Following a scrimmage at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, Calif. against perennial powerhouse Northwestern on Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m., the Aztecs begin their campaign on the east coast, with games at Elon, UNC and St. Joseph's. San Diego State makes its regular season debut in a 6 p.m. contest on Feb. 12 at Elon, which went 8-8 in 2015. The Aztecs will remain in the Tar Heel State two days later for a 1p.m. game against North Carolina which, last season, fell to Maryland in the national championship game. On Feb. 27, San Diego State will venture up the eastern seaboard to take on St. Joseph's for the first time in program history at 3 p.m.

San Diego State opens its home slate with a three-game stretch against Michigan, Furman and Stony Brook. The Aztecs welcome the Wolverines, a third-year program that finished 2015 with a 5-12 mark, on March 1 at 7 p.m. Furman then travels to San Diego for a noon contest on March 10. The Paladins wrapped up last season with an appearance in the Atlantic Sun Tournament semifinals. The Aztecs host Stony Brook on March 18 at 4 p.m. The America East champion Seawolves posted an outstanding 18-2 record with four wins over nationally-ranked opponents before falling to No. 11/12 Princeton in its NCAA Tournament debut.

San Diego State kicks off MPSF play with a pair of Bay Area games, visiting St. Mary's on March 18 at 4 p.m. and California on March 20 at noon. The Gaels were winless in 2015, but boast a young roster of 11 underclassmen. The Bears produced a 3-13 record last year and return team-leading scorer Bella Hunter.

A pair of MPSF home contests follows, with Oregon and Fresno State traveling to Montezuma Mesa. The Ducks, who visit San Diego for a 7 p.m. matchup on March 25, recorded double-digit wins for the third time in four seasons (10-8). The Bulldogs, in town on March 27 for a 2 p.m. contest, yielded a program-best four wins last season.

The Aztecs hit the road for conference battles at USC, Denver and Colorado. The Trojans, who won the program's first NCAA Tournament game last year, host San Diego State for a 3 p.m. contest on April 2. The Scarlet and Black face a Pioneer team on April 8 at 4 p.m. that posted a 13-5 mark last season, before venturing to Boulder, Colo., to play the Buffaloes, coming off its second consecutive 11-win season, on April 10 at noon.

San Diego State closes out the regular season by hosting in-state rivals UC Davis and Stanford. Recording a 4-13 mark in 2015, the Aggies make the journey south for a 7 p.m. game on April 22. Stanford, in San Diego on April 24 at noon, reached the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in six years after producing an undefeated MPSF season.

The MPSF Tournament, hosted by Stanford, is April 28 to May 1.

The Aztecs are coming off of a 2015 campaign that yielded a program-best nine wins and seven-game win streak. San Diego State, captained in 2016 by Anna Cholewczynski, Andrea Killebrew and Jacqueline Leibrandt, will be joined by four high school All-Americans, four all-conference or all-league picks, three all-county and all-section or all-group honorees and a pair of all-state players and player of the year selections.
