COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Alexandra Caplan has earned Mountain West Women's Diver of the Week honors for competition completed through Sunday, November 22, 2015. It marks the third weekly award for the sophomore from Mission Viejo, Calif.
Caplan won the 1-meter springboard event at the Wildcat Diving Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona Nov. 20-22. After placing second in the prelims with a mark of 284.60, she improved her score to 292.50 in the finals to win the event in a field of 41 divers. Her score in the finals is an NCAA Zones qualifying mark.
On the 3-meter springboard, Caplan placed sixth (of 40 divers) with an NCAA-qualifying mark of 268.15. She had already turned in an NCAA mark earlier in the day when she finished third in the prelims with a score of 275.00
Caplan ended the Invitational by recording a 200.05 in the platform competition and placing fifth. Her score was the best among SDSU's divers, who had all four athletes finish among the top 10 in the event that had 30 competitors.
The Aztec divers will next be in action on December 18 when the San Diego state swimming and diving team will be in San Luis Obispo, Calif., for a dual meet against Cal Poly set to get underway at 10:00 a.m.
