Art Adamson Invitational Day 2 Results

The San Diego State swimmers completed the second day of competition at the Art Adamson Invitational hosted by Texas A&M and find themselves in sixth place in the 10-team field. The Aztec divers, meanwhile, had a pair of athletes advance to the finals of the 3-meter board and picked up fourth- and sixth-place individual finishes.

The swim meet got underway with the 200 medley relay where the SDSU foursome of Kate Santilena, Lydia Pereverzina, Summer Harrison and Taylor Johnson captured seventh place with a time of 1:40.77. That mark ranks as the ninth-fastest in program history.

Also picking up points in the 200 medley relay with a 13th-place finish was the team of Andrea VanderMey, Cecilia Zaccarelli, Samantha Guttmacher and Cailey Steffens. The quartet turned in a time of 1:43.45.

In the 400 individual medley, freshman Rachael Kelch led the Aztecs with a seventh-place finish. Her time of 4:19.30 ranks as the fourth-best all-time for an SDSU swimmer. Senior Shannon Herman also scored in the event, placing eighth in the B final (16th overall) with a mark of 4:27.09.

San Diego State picked up another seventh-place finish in a championship final when Summer Harrison clocked a 53.25 in the 100 butterfly.

The Aztecs' top time in the 200 freestyle was recorded by freshman Martina Marks, who was fourth in the D final in 1:50.67.

In the 100 breaststroke SDSU had a pair of athletes score points as Taylor Young and Pereverzina placed second and sixth respectively in the B final. Young's time of 1:01.41 goes into the Aztec record book as the third-best all time while Pereverzina's 1:03.38 ranks as the seventh-fastest.

Senior Natilee Ruiz was SDSU's top swimmer on the 100 backstroke as she placed fifth in the B final with a mark of 55.25, a time that ranks as the sixth-fastest in program history.

In the final event of the night, the team of Ruiz, Marks, Corinn Casper and Alex Wolf finished 13th in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:33.60.

Action wraps up on Saturday at the Art Adamson Invitational with prelims in four events beginning at 9:30 a.m. (CT) and the finals of six events getting underway at 6:00 p.m. (CT).

At the Wildcat Diving Invitational being hoisted by the University of Arizona, sophomore Makena Chamoures (280.65) and Alexandra Caplan (268.15) placed fourth and sixth respectively in the finals of the 3-meter board.

In the field of 41 divers, Caplan was third in the prelims with a mark of 275.00 while Chamoures placed fifth with a score of 263.10. Other SDSU divers among the competitor were Payton Gabris (27th with a score of 271.30) and Nicole Dutton (29th with a score of 215.15). There are no team scores for the divers.

The Wildcat Diving Invitational continues on Saturday with the women competing on the 1-meter springboard. Prelims commence at 12:00 p.m. (MT) with the finals starting at 2:00 p.m. (MT).
