MALIBU, Calif. - San Diego State men's tennis continued its success in the second day of the 2015 USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championships, with juniors Hendrik Jebens and Milen Ianakiev advancing to the singles main draw's Round of 16 and Marko Goles-Babic and Ianakiev beating a nationally-ranked doubles team to move on to the doubles quarterfinals after victories on Friday at Pepperdine. In singles action, Jebens and Ianakiev propelled themselves to the Round of 16 with two-set wins. Jebens secured the victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Pepperdine's Stefan Menichella. The Stuttgart, Germany native faces Logan Staggs from UCLA on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the Round of 16. Ianakiev snagged a 6-3, 6-4 win over 122-ranked Ben Donovan of Cal Poly, and will contend with USC's Robbie Bellamy in the Round of 16, also at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.

In his Round of 32 match, Freddy Gelbrich was narrowly defeated by Grand Canyon's Felix Schueller, 7-6 (5), 5-7, 4-6.

Both of the Aztecs' representatives in the doubles Round of 32 advanced to the Round of 16, with Goles-Babic and Ianakiev topping Harry Busby and Jason Jaruvang of Arizona, 8-6. Nationally ranked 31st, Gelbrich and Jebens defeated UCLA's Logan Staggs and Ryoto Tachi, 8-4.

Goles-Babic and Ianakiev followed up their victory with a thrilling 8-7 (8) win over No. 47-ranked Jack Jaede and Max de Vroome of USC. Gelbrich and Jebens lost to Pepperdine's Pedro Iamachkine and Lautaro Pane, 8-3.

Southwest Regional action continues on Saturday at 9 a.m. with two rounds of singles, one round of doubles and consolation matches.
