SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State captured eight individual events and one relay as it registered dual meet victories over both Oregon State (121.5-105.5) and Vanderbilt (128-104) Thursday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. The wins allowed the Aztecs to improve to 3-0 on the year.

Eight SDSU swimmers won their events led by double winner Whitney Weisz. The senior took first in both the 100 and 200 freestyle races with times of 50:82 and 1:51.00 respectively.

In addition, Weisz anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay team that finished first in a time of 3:27.95. She along with teammates Cailey Steffens, Taylor Johnson and Sami Guttmacher turned in a mark that ranks as the eight-fastest ever in the event at the Aquaplex.

Four other San Diego State swimmers, two of whom won their races, also had times that rank among the all-time top 10 at the Aquaplex. That group includes event winners Taylor Johnson in the 50 free (23.44 ââ'¬" fifth fastest) and Rachael Kelch in the 200 butterfly (2:03.25 ââ'¬" sixth-fastest).

Savannah Miller's second-place time of 50.90 in the 100 freestyle ranks third all-time at the facility while Taylor Young's second-place mark of 2:20.48 in the 200 breaststroke ranks ninth.

SDSU's four other individual event winners included Kate Santilena in the 100 backstroke (57.71), Cecilia Zaccarelli in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.03), Natilee Ruiz in the 200 backstroke (2:02.26) and Summer Harrison in the 100 butterfly (54.66).

With neither Oregon State nor Vanderbilt fielding any divers, the scores in those two events were not counted in the final tally. SDSU sophomore Alexandra Caplan won both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards with scores of 321.15 and 287.55 respectively. Payton Gabris took second on the 1-meter board (259.65) while Izzy Choquehuanca was runner-up on the 3-meter (264.67).

Up next for San Diego State will be another double dual competition as New Mexico and Washington State visit the Aztec Aquaplex for a meet on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 10:00 a.m.
