TULSA, Okla. - San Diego State men's tennis junior Hendrik Jebens concluded an impressive run at the 2015 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships, falling to Virginia Tech's Edoardo Tessaro, 6-2, 6-1 in the second round of the main draw consolation bracket.
Jebens was the first Aztec since 2008 to advance to the tournament's main draw, which featured 64 student-athletes, and was the Mountain West's only representative in the main draw.
One of three Aztecs competing at the championships, Jebens, a Stuttgart, Germany native, powered through the qualifying singles bracket with wins over Stanford's Sameer Kumar, Dartmouth's Diego Pedraza and Florida State's Michael Rinaldi. Jebens fell to Wayne Montgomery of Georgia to open the main draw before posting a four and three win over Marco Micolani from Arkansas in the main draw's consolation bracket.
Next up for Jebens and the Aztecs is the 2015 USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Malibu, Calif. The tournament is slated to begin on Oct. 15.
